14 is a poetry magazine devoted to poems of 14 lines only, publishing modern sonnets alongside stranger brews and unusual 14-liners.
We believe
there's something special about the 14 line form - it offers space genuinely to develop an idea, and at the same time asks that the poem is
focussed. When we put each issue together we try to think of it as a collection. But the main emphasis is always that these are individual poems which we like, which we admire, which we want to share with our readers.
The poems in 14 can range from the reflective, to surreal, menacing, comical, sad, or lyrical - we're open to all styles and tones. We are looking for poems which take subtle risks - in images, word choice, subject matter, or in the poem's development. We value poems with a contemporary edge. Above all we want to present you with poems which reward spending further time with them - poems which perhaps leave the lid of the box slightly open.
